3-Day Mikumi National Park Safari from Dar es Salaam

Private safari with overnight inside the park and extended wildlife experience

This 3-day Mikumi National Park safari from Dar es Salaam offers a classic Tanzania safari experience with a key advantage — staying overnight inside the park

This 3-day safari allows for a more relaxed and complete wildlife experience compared to shorter 2-day trips. With more time inside the park, you can enjoy extended game drives and a deeper exploration of Mikumi National Park. This itinerary is ideal for travelers who want more than a quick safari and prefer a slower, more complete experience.

With an additional day inside the park, this safari offers more time for wildlife viewing, less time on the road, and a more immersive overall experience.

On this private safari, you explore the open savannah landscapes of Mikumi National Park on game drives in a 4x4 safari-jeep  Toyota Land Cruiser with a Pop-Up Roof, with good opportunities to see lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, and other wildlife.

Unlike many short safaris, this itinerary includes accommodation inside the park, allowing more time for wildlife viewing and flexible game drives during the most active hours of the day — early morning and sunset. You will have multiple opportunities to experience both sunrise and sunset game drives.

This 3-day Mikumi safari from Dar es Salaam is suitable for both solo travelers and groups.

Park Facts and Wildlife

Mikumi National Park

A classic open savannah park, often compared to the Serengeti and known as the “Little Serengeti.” Its flat terrain and clear views make it easier to observe wildlife, from elephants and giraffes to lions and large buffalo groups. Sometimes called an “African wildlife reception,” Mikumi offers consistent sightings, and with more time in the park, there is a better chance — especially in the early hours — to spot more elusive animals like leopard.

Traveler experiences from Mikumi safari

Juris Smaļinskis, traveler and nature researcher

Roman is an excellent guide to African nature. He is well-acquainted with African wildlife—animals, birds—and knows the national parks well. He is reliable and, in every way, an important support both in urban environments and in nature. If you haven't seen the big African animals, then Mikumi is the right place. There you can truly see them in their natural habitat.
I highly recommend it!

Katrina Karele, traveler and digital content creator

From the moment we stepped out of the airport, we were greeted warmly, and we didn't have to worry about a single thing for the rest of the trip. And it wasn't just the paradise of animals—the experience was made even better by Roman's commentary and fascinating facts about the wildlife. We highly recommend visiting Tanzania and doing so under Roman's guidance—absolutely safe and unforgettable!

Maris Pukitis, editor, journalist and nature photographer

I have traveled with Roman through Mikumi, Selous, and Ruaha parks, and I can only say the best about him, both as a driver and a guide.  Roman will show you not only lions and elephants but also Dar es Salaam, including places that tourists usually don't get to see. Everything depends on your preferences—Roman will take care of your comfort and safety.
